Computer coding is the language of the future. Computer programmers are now and are going to be in great demand in the years to come. The purpose of this day is to make our community aware of coding and to teach some of the basics of coding in a fun and engaging way.
Hour of code is an international event that code.org holds every year. This website offers lessons and resources for anyone that wants to learn coding.
Coding at Macdonough is not a one day event. We have a coding after school club where students are using MIT's online program Scratch. Anyone can go to scratch.mit.edu to use this great program.
Other resources for coding include; tynker.com, codeacademy.com pencilcode.net, and alice.org. Another source just shared with me by our district technology facilitator Michelle Gohagon is https://www.madewithcode.com/. Thanks Michelle!
